Parking

What are the parking charges like?

Walks
- Inevitably any walk will take you from the car park to the boathouse at the lake and potentially beyond. This will be significantly downhill on the way into the arboretum and uphill on the way out.
Description
- Winkworth Arboretum is just that - it was created a century ago as a celebration of trees - so you will be walking in the shade of trees for much of your visit, and you will see numerous interesting trees, including a collection of mature magnolias, in the various parts of the arboretum.
- It is quite hilly in some areas as the main walks are on the sides of hills around a low-lying lake. On the far side of the lake there are some fields which can be sunny in the summer. At the right times of year there are often ducklings or goslings near the lake.
- There are play areas for kids, particularly nearer the entrance, with event (e.g. Easter) play trails offered at the entrance at certain times of year.
Wet weather
- Very hilly and mostly dirt or bark paths so not the best in mid-winter.
