Walks
- All walks start up and away from the car park to a crossroads of paths. To the right is one route that slopes gently downhill towards the edge of the area bordered by some farmland with sheep. To the left is a very ancient beech and ideally the return route from straight ahead where the majority of the bluebells lie. Following the path gently to the left and eventually taking a hard left and down onto a different path will bring you back via some less wooded views and the ancient beech.
Description
- A mixed woodland area near the top of one of the North Downs and in our view the best place in Surrey to see bluebells in May. Most of the routes are relatively easy going without much climbing, as White Down is not one of the higher Surrey Hills peaks. There are some ancient beech trees on White Down, including one massive tree that has been reduced to a stump in recent years but is still very impressive and we can easily see the wide stretch of its canopy.
Wet weather
- This area can get very muddy in places, especially to the right at the crossroads of paths.
