Parking
What is the parking like?
- The main car park on the A30 can get full, in which case there is also parking at Saville Garden, which makes your walk longer
What are the parking charges like?
- Expensive
Walks
- The walk is at its simplest just walk around the lake but there are a couple of options. We would generally turn left from the A30 car park, and follow the tarmac track around. At the mobile cafe in the soutwest corner, turn sharply right to follow the path across the bridge. A little further on, beyond the house on the right, there is another bridge. At this point, go up the hill instead of following the lake's shore. Follow this track by the dragonfly pond, by the cornus and up to the top of the hill. At this second mobile cafe the path ahead goes to Saville Garden but the right hand path leads by the magnolia garden to the totem pole, finishing around the final corner back to the A30 car park.
- From Saville Garden, head to the totem pole and follow the same route but return using the relevant path from the second mobile cafe, or do the same walk anticlockwise.
Description
- Virginia Water lake is a very popular spot for a walk. It is always a pleasure to walk around in sunshine or in the winter when mists can lie across the lake, giving it a ghostly appearance. There are many dog walkers and a dog wash at the A30 car park. Being at a lake, it is mostly flat and therefore accessible and easy for children. Bicycles are not allowed on some of the circular paths.
Wet weather
- Almost all the paths are tarmac and suitable even in the worst weather.
